Will upgrading processor improve graphic performance in gaming?
Pentium d is too old and weak for gaming thus a quad core cpu will significantly increase the performance .9800gt is a good option for gaming and its amazingly good at todays game. So, you should better go for a good cpu such as core 2 extreme qx9775 or better which support LGA775 socket. If you want hard-core gaming then go for core i-7 series processors but that will require different type of RAM and motherboard. Else go with core 2 quad or core 2 exteme processors. I dont think you will need better GPU than 9800gt unless you play games at resolutions such as 1900×1200. AND processors do not increase the GRAPHICS PERFORMANCE(unless you got core i-5 and core i-7 which have descrete GPU within the chip), it increases the FPS by computing more data at a time. Graphics performance depends upon graphics card, if you want better and faster graphics card then go for geforce GTS 250, Radeon 5750/5770. Good luck.
