Will Tom Watson win the 2009 British Open?
I am hoping he can find a way. It would be a great story. Watson has a long history of playing very well at the British Open. In fact, you make the argument that no American has shown an ability to play links style golf (if they were a member of the regular US tour) than Watson. He was great at it when he was playing fulltime on the regular tour and has continued to play well at the Senior British Open now that he normally plays on the Champions Tour. As golf equipment and fitness levels have improved, people in their 50’s can still be competitive from time to time even with the younger guys if it is the right course. The two biggest factors are it is hard to play consistently four days in a row when you are 59 going against people half your age and the ever changing whether at the British Open.
