It doesn’t matter that they don’t have a specific degree entitled “print journalism” or simply “journalism” because if you plan to pursue a career in newspaper/magazine type journalism you can easily be qualified for the job with a degree in English or Literature, which are offered at all the UC schools. If you want to go to a school that doesn’t offer a “journalism” degree, major in English and be a part of the school’s newspaper team, or literary magazine at school. Journalism is English. Having a strong foundation in English and being exposed to famous works of literature and being asked to write in various styles (narrative, bio, short story, creative writing, etc.) will enhance your abilities as a journalist. You will have an edge compared to someone who only knows journalistic styles of writing.
