Will the toys in MacDonalds happy meals be collectors items?
Happy Meal toys, by and large, already are collectors items. There are numerous collectors who collect any happy meal toys, as well as those who collect some of the toys as they supplement exisiting collections. Whenever there’s a tie-in to an exisiting line (I’m thinking about things like Beanie Babies, Transformers, Hot Wheels, Action man and Barbie) then many of the collectors of those lines will make sure that they pick up the happy meal toys to complement thir collection. In addition, strange as it may seem, there are those who collect McDonalds mechandise, as McDonalds does have a certain amount of pop-culture status. I’ve been to collectors fairs where people are selling Happy Meal toys, and whilst the prices are rarely high for what I’ve seen, they are often more than the cost of the meal itself.
