Will the threads of a tek-drain™ oil drain plug ever strip out?

0

Maybe. A tek-drain™ oil drain plug should last for many years if not abused. However, it would be unrealistic to assume that anything, even a high quality Stainless Steel tek-drain™ oil drain plug, will last forever. All oil drain plugs take a lot of abuse. The oil drain plug is located at the bottom of an engine, and this is the dirtiest part of the engine. Dirt, grit, carbon deposits, and metal fragments all collect in the oil drain pan and often get washed out with the oil during oil changes. Some of this dirt may get trapped in the internal threads of the tek-drain™ main fitting, and this may eventually lead to damaged threads in the future. If these threads do become damaged, we suggest replacing with a new tek-drain™ plug. The threads of your vehicle’s drain pan should still be preserved; because you should only need to replace a tek-drain™ fitting in your drain pan infrequently—if at all.
