Will the Sims 3 be released on PS2 at some point?
It is extremely unlikely for two primary reasons. 1) There is currently little information on the Sims 3 and a release date hasn’t even been announce yet. In fact, the only information on it so far is that there will be an announcement for it in 2009. When a product is early, that generally means it won’t get a release until much later. By that point in that, interest in the PS2 will wane significantly. 2) Currently, the Sims 3 is only announced for the PC/PS2/Xbox 360. It isn’t even announced for the most popular console currently: the Wii. This generally means two things. The first is that the Sims 3 will be graphically intensive (thus no Wii release since the Wii is the least powerful console; the Wii is also much more powerful than the PS2). The second thing it means is that EA, the company publishing the game, doesn’t care as much about possible sales if it compromises the appearance of their games, thus the PS2 advantage of having a huge console base may be negated.
