Will the Routes into Employment in Schools for Refugees Programme allow me to teach in schools in England?
No. However, if you want to teach in England, it will prepare you well for further studies leading to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). You will do a work placement in a London school and the programme will give you an in-depth knowledge of the English Education System and the National Curriculum. Apart from helping you make the decision about whether teaching in the UK is right for you, the programme will give you the strong background you need for applications for teaching courses. You must, of course, fulfil the additional entry requirements for the course you choose. The course will develop your skills to work in schools supporting the needs of refugee children and their families. Students can apply for positions such as Home School Liaison Officer on completing the programme.
