There are two levels of SPAM filtering in the new service: the first is at the Microsoft mail hubs where the outlook.com service uses the same infrastructure as hotmail for spam prevention. Details of how that antispam infrastructure operates can be found here: http://postmaster.hotmail.com/FightingJunk.aspx The Web Access and some of the email clients: such as Outlook and Entourage also provide support for spam filtering where incoming email may be filtered to the Junk email folder. The user can then mark these email as either junk or not-junk. The final implementation of UCL’s integration with these services is subject to further design work and documentation will be provided if the decision is taken to proceed with this service.
