Will the magnet cause any errors in the calculation of distances on my golf gps display?
There has been no scientific evidence that a magnetic field causes any changes to the global positioning system satellite signals. We’ve experimented with most every golf gps unit on the market while attached to the GPSQuickClip and then removing the gps unit and walking away from the cart. There is no change in the yardage. Think about this – a moving car has a strong magnetic field throughout the engine compartment due to the ignition system, battery, fuses, computer electronics, etc. Vehicle navigation gps units (both portable and permanent) obviously are not affected by a magnetic field. If they were, they would be worthless in a vehicle. Powered golf carts (both gas and electric) also create a magnetic field. The various golf gps manufacturers would not have been able to be a viable business if their gps units were affected by magnetic field. GPS tracking units, such as those used to track the movements of a car use a magnet to attach the unit to the undercarriage of the car.
