Will the LON-CAPA server software under MacOS?
Well, yes. One of our users actually managed to re-compile everything for a MacOS PowerPC architecture, and wrote data file conversion scripts. It works, but it’s harder to maintain. Will the LON-CAPA server software work under FreeBSD? Currently not, but we would really love to make this work. There is no reason why LON-CAPA should not run on FreeBSD, but installation will be painful. This is due to the large number of libraries we are using, as well as the fact that some packages will need re-compilation, and that the organization of the file system is different.
