Will the load-shed relay react to a weak engine (e.g. restricted fuel/air filter) under near full load conditions?
No. The MPS system operates based on programmed-in generator capacity, not actual generator output. If one engine is weak, the MPS system will request more power from all engines to achieve required power. However, if no capacity remains, the system could shut down due to under-frequency and/or under-voltage. Therefore, as with any emergency generator system, proper maintenance is important.
