Will the legal age for alcohol go up to 21 in UK?
No, you reach majority at 18 in the UK, and the Government has no plans to increase the legal drinking age to 21. Many 18 to 21 year olds are at University and a ban would be impossible to enforce. Furthermore it is the under 18’s who can’t go in to pubs and drink, and therefore hang around street corners with bottles of cider or cans of lager, who cause the most problems and instill the most fear within local communities.
