Will the iPhone 4G be available on the Verizon Wireless network?

0

UPDATE: Verizon Wireless and Apple will launch the CDMA iPhone 4 on February 10, 2011 in stores. Existing Verizon customers can pre-order starting February 3, 2011. Probably not. Rumors and speculation have been rampant on this issue. The fact is that Apple is launching the iPad with AT&T as its exclusive carrier. Clearly the two companies are in mutual agreement that their partnership is beneficial and ongoing. Apple would have to manufacture the iPhone 4G to be compatible with two different network technologies if they wanted to bring the device to Verizon. It’s likely Apple will wait for the deployment of next generation wireless networks (LTE) which will be standard between all of the major carriers except for possibly Sprint. Apple could continue their business model of manufacturing one iPhone and it would be compatible on AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon’s networks. LTE (long term evolution) is not expected to be widely available until 2011. We will keep you posted with the latest.
