Will the Government honour its responsibilities and close the Kings Cross shooting gallery?
[Time expired.] The Hon. JOHN DELLA BOSCA: The member is anticipating the general tenor of my answer to this question. I am aware of the articles and conventions he speaks about. His first point related to article 7, which states that the use of psychotropic substances will be prohibited by the signatories except for scientific and limited therapeutic purposes. All conventions evolve, and I am sure the member is aware that since the introduction of the trial of the medically supervised injecting room in New South Wales, a number of other parties to the various conventions he speaks about have subsequently put trials in place, many of them similar to the one we put in place at Kings Cross. There is a very good argument—I am not an international lawyer so I will not try to make the argument because it would be outside the standing orders—that it is generally accepted by many signatories to the convention that the kind of trial in place in our service at Kings Cross fits within the defini
