Will the Globalstar handset work inside buildings?
No, the satellite service is unlikely to work in a building or any area where the sky is obstructed. The satellite service is based upon line-of-sight access to the satellite; therefore in-building coverage for handsets is generally not available. You may see the satellite symbol showing you could place a call, but the call will likely as the satellite(s) pass to the other side of the building. However, the cellular half of the phone is not dependent on line-of-sight access to the satellite so it provides a better means of receiving messages in urban locations. You must have the cellular half of the phone activated and it will have a different telephone number than the satellite phone. In any case, callers who are unable to reach the subscriber for any reason will have the option of leaving a message on the voice mail.
