Will the Gamecubes Wavebird controllers work with Wii?

I’m not really interested in getting one of those Wii Classic Controllers because it won’t work with Gamecube games. But I do remember that Wavebird wireless controller for Gamecube and I want to know if the dongle that plugs into the controller port will fit onto the Wii. Holla.
