Will the fast moving Islamification of Russia will effect the regions political stability?
Russia is historically a Slavic, Orthodox Christian land. Russia’s wants to make Christianity official religion and are trying to convert Muslims. Islam is currently recognized as one of Russia’s official religions, along with Orthodox Christianity, Judaism and Buddhism. Muslim leaders say the Russian media is fuelling antagonism. Many Russians associate Islam with religious extremists from Chechnya who have carried out dozens of bombings and other attacks against civilians. Muslims are most often portrayed as either criminals or religious radicals waging a holy war against Christians. I believe the Islamification of Russia will destabilize already troubled region. It will be wise on part of Russian govt to make peace with Muslims and Chechnya to bring the harmony on its land. The suppression of Islam will not be in favour of Russia, but give civil and human rights to each and every Russian, regardless of their religion.
