Of course new materials and manufacturing techniques will change this – in 50 years time we will be able to do things that we could only dream of now, new materials will be invented, faster and more efficient production and manufacture… in 50 years time China will probably have evolved into a lean mean manufacturing machine, capable of making vast quantities of quality goods using very high technology, so you may well be able to bend your bike up into a ball and throw it into the boot of your car (maybe that will take a little longer, but you get what I mean – we won’t be so restricted by material stengths and such).
