Will the current Tacoma Narrows Bridge suffer the same fate as the old one?
I don’t think so, and certainly hope not! I believe the designers/engineers of the bridge learned what they did wrong the first time around. I saw a show not too long ago about “disasters” and this was one of the topics they covered and they went into detail as to what had gone wrong and what they learned so that they error would not be repeated. However, with that said, in the early 1980s the bridge that spans the waters around Tampa was hit by a ship and down it came! They rebuilt it and today, ever time I cross it, I pray! With all that said–When it’s your time to go, I don’t care where you are or what you are doing or who you are doing it with, you are gonna go and there’s not a blasted thing you can do to stop it.
