Will the courts force a paternity test on the mother?
If she is court-ordered to permit you to be tested for paternity, and she refuses, she can be charged with contempt-of-court, and there are criminal penalties for that. There’s a REASON that she’s holding out, and refusing to have the test done. Why would she say that you’re the child’s father, and demand financial support, yet deny you visitation and the right to determine if you’re really the child’s father? Yes, I could very well be wrong, and I’m truly sorry how this may sound. But it’s my guess that she knows that you’re NOT the father of the child, and since she either cannot find the real father, or doesn’t know who the father is, she’s making you the father. Regardless of how this may turn out, please continue to push for the paternity test to be done. You’ll feel better, knowing the truth.
