Will the Audioengine “ComboPort” charge my old Firewire powered iPod?

The Audioengine USB ComboPort on top of the speakers charges all USB iPods and most other USB devices (including the Zune player) but does not charge older 1G and 2G Firewire-powered iPods, which can only be charged via Firewire.
