Will stereoscopic 3D eventually become a standard for all games (like colour TV, we mean)?
Jaakko: There are still problems with the visual quality, the sense of scale, and the glasses, which are just a hassle. The living room already has a remote control and game controllers. I just don’t see 3D glasses added to the standard coffee table load-out in the near future. It seems like a fad for now, but time will tell. Jukka: Well eventually anything is possible so it could happen. Like all new graphics technology it is something we are watching with interest. The question is really whether 3D provides a better experience than 2D. If so, then people will pay for the privilege and it will eventually become a standard. A few years ago it would have been hard to imagine that jumping around your living room with a motion controller or thrashing away on a plastic guitar would prove popular but whether 3D has more or less sticking power than other recent innovations remains to be seen.
