Will staff and academic programmes belong to departments?
Departments are not simply a presentational device, although they do not remove the primary responsibilities from the school. Where they exist within any school, then staff, students, academic programmes, targets and spending would be associated with them, as well as with the school. This means that the academic activity of departments would be transparent as a part of the School.
