According to Reuters, a theme park based on the Marvel characters is under development and will open by 2011 in Dubai. We’re not talking about a few off-the-shelf spinning rides with the X-Men and Dr. Doom grafted onto them. The companies involved in the park say that they will spend $1 billion on leading-edge technologies and attractions. Rides don’t get much more leading edge than the Spider-Man attractions at Universal parks in Orlando and Japan.
