Will solar energy will or will not replace petroleum products?

Solar energy will replace the petroleum products due to an inexhaustible source of energy.

Solar energy costs approximately ten times as much as petroleum for the same amount of energy. If we could not afford it when gasoline prices doubled from $2.00 to $4.00, how will we be able to afford it when our cost for electricity goes up ten times? Could you afford to pay your electric bill if it went up ten times? I know I can’t. My current electric bill runs about $70 per month. If I got my electricity through solar electricity the cost of the same amount of electricity would be about $700 per month. I cannot afford an increase in my electric bill from $70 per month to over $700 per month and I will bet that most of the people on this site cannot afford that kind of an increase either.
