Will sending my attachment as text (DOS, ASCII, etc.) solve the attachment problem?

Probably not, if you send a text document as an attachment you are actually doing unnecessary work. E-mail is sent as plain text and all Internet e-mail readers will read or be able to convert a standard e-mail message. There is no standard text format. Text documents are different on Windows, Macintosh and Unix so there is no guarantee that your recipient will be able to read the attachment. Remember documents are not the only form of attachments. Music files, pictures, video clips, PowerPoint presentations, programs and other files can be sent as attachments. The important part is the recipient having the application to be able to access the file.
