Will Pres. Obama amend stupid remark re black Harvard Professor Henry Gates and the Police Officer?
Background: Likely most of you have already heard about this. First, here’s a brief background, and a reference. Harvard Prof. accidentally got locked out of his house, and tried to break in to gain entrance, as anyone might have done. Bad luck, though, a neighbor called the police. They showed up, and then things turned worse. Now the story differs depending on who is describing it – the police officer, the Professor, or the President, who got involved recently and called the Officer’s actions as “stupid”. Will the President retract, or amend in any way, his remark? Here’s part of this news story- The Harvard professor whose arrest sparked a national debate over racism in the US was combative and abusive to the police sergeant who arrived at his door in response to a call about a burglary, the police officer claimed. The Harvard Prof. was later arrested and handcuffed, so this lead to Pres. Obama’s quick response of “stupid.” (referring to the police officer, it seemed). see http://ww
