Will poppies grow in S.E Queensland ?
It all depends on the type of Poppies you are wanting to grow. Eschscholzia californica or California Poppies can be grown there as well as Papaver nudicaule or Arctic Poppies. Papaver orientale or Oriental Poppies don’t do well without a good cold spell when dormant so I don’t think these would be a good choice. Papaver rhoeas or Corn Poppies and Papaver somniferum or Opium Poppies are annuals, they do well just about anywhere but have to be replanted every year. There are many other species of Papaver. It just depends what you are looking for.
