Will peppermint plants actually keep away mice?

Peppermint and Spearmint grow wild in my area. We are continually pulling it out of the flower beds, garden, everywhere. We have mice that try to get into the house during the winter. Mint has no affect on mice. Get a cat. Mice in stored grain is believed to be the reason cats started hanging around people about 10,000 yrs. ago. They still have that mouse relationship with us.
