Will PensionSMART affect Maternity Pay?
The College provides College maternity pay over and above Statutory Maternity Pay (SMP). Your eligibility for College maternity pay and the level of College maternity pay you will receive depends on your length of service and your terms and conditions of employment (for further details please see the Maternity and Family Leave policy ). Any College maternity pay you are eligible to receive will be calculated based on your Pre PensionSMART Salary therefore you will be no worse off. Unless you opt out of PensionSMART you will continue to exchange an amount equivalent to 6.35% (USS) or 6.00% (SAUL) of your maternity pay during any period you are in receipt of College maternity pay, provided that this does not reduce your Adjusted Salary to below SMP. If you are not entitled to College maternity pay for all or part of your ordinary maternity leave you may still be eligible to receive SMP (see the Maternity and Family Leave policy available on the HR webpages for further details).
