Yes, it is generally perfectly fine. Female rats are very social and they generally love company no matter how old that rat is. It depends on your rat but if the older is acting fine, then don’t worry. And honestly, I have owned a great deal of ratties and I have never once seen them “play fight.” Rats do not do this. The only fighting they do is for dominance. You may notice that they mount each other, pin each other down, chase each other and you may notice squeaking. There may not be blood but it is not for play. Like wolves, they are simply showing the other who is boss. When young rats are reaching adulthood, you may notice two of the same age do this more then an older rat. Your adult female is leader because she is bigger but for some reason, it doesn’t stop babies from jumping all over the other rat. The leader rat may chase the other and do other things to put the other in its place. I actually have found that an older female rat who is already over the hormonal and dominance
