M&T Check Card: Yes. M&T Check Cards that feature Visa payWave use the latest version of this new technology and will work as contactless cards internationally. Additionally, as long as the merchant accepts magnetic stripe cards, your card should still work the traditional way by being “swiped”. M&T Visa Credit Card: No. The Visa payWave functionality on M&T Visa Credit Cards will NOT work in foreign countries. The Visa payWave functionality on M&T Credit Cards will only work in the U.S. However, as long as the foreign merchant accepts magnetic stripe cards, your M&T Credit Card should still work in the traditional way by being “swiped”.
