Will my cast iron chimenea work safely and effectively on an outdoor polycarbonate roofed deck?

0

I have a cast iron chimenea (La Hacienda) which I want to install on the deck for heat and barbeque purposes. My plan is to extend the flu (which has now a small cast iron lid to protect from rain) and put this up through the polycarbonate roof using a roof centering plate which I am sourcing/having made to protect the roof from the heat. This was just a brainwave solution of my own and I am hoping this works. One worry is that obviously it will not have a lid on for protection against heavy rain. Builder is suggesting just leaving it as is (not bothering with the flu through roof) and see what happens….. put on edge of the deck…Anyone ever tried anything like this?Went to stove shop yesterday and they advised me about the roof centering plate. I don’t trust the builder I am afraid.
