Will Mohali turn into Silicon Valley?
Tribune News Service Chandigarh, October 25 Lack of any big-time IT institutes, scientific temper and absence of risk taking IT giants are some of the reasons that have affected the growth of IT industry in Punjab. The state governments plan to develop SAS Nagar as another Silicon Valley is difficult to become a reality, but the state is best suited for the implementation of IT applications due to high income growth and awareness among the public. These views were expressed by the leading IT giants here on Wednesday, who had gathered to participate in the sixth National Conference on e-governance, organised by the state government. While the state CM and his team were trying to impress upon the industry leaders that state would offer them various incentives if they invested in IT park at SAS Nagar, but the leaders were sceptic about the potential of the state as IT industry destination.
