Will legalizing prostitution reduce the incidents of human trafficking?
Legalizing prostitution would only make sense in a very advanced society, individuals would have to be free from economics constraints and be able to choose their professions freely. This would prevent the very poor from being exploited. In certain places where prostitution is legal, such as ‘boys town’ in Mexico, what happens is that poor women in need of money enter the profession, get mistreated, receive no health-care, have little pay, bad working conditions, & early death. This is partially a result of the bad economic conditions of the country in which they live, they have very few other options for money. I would recommend this Documentary on Sex tourism, its very good. http://quicksilverscreen.com/watch?video… It depicts the exploitation of young girls who are sold into prostitution, its quite tragic.
