Will John McCain Pressing Gas on The Gasoline Prices, Oil Exploration & Drilling Help Him During The Campaign?
I don’t see how Sen.McCain’s views really help his campaign. In fact, as people understand what he’s saying, it may hurt his campaign. He isn’t actually offering anything constructive that would impact the price of oil or gas in the short term. His idea of suspending the federal gas tax for the summer was widely criticized by economists because it means lost government revenue for highway infrastructure. This, in turn, would mean 1,000’s of job layoffs for work that wouldn’t be done. Two days ago, McCain finally admitted that additional off-shore drilling wouldn’t affect the supply for years to come and consequently, the price of gas. And, so long as he isn’t opposed to oil speculation, there is nothing that he is offering that will affect the price of gas for many years to come, if at all. McCain really seems to be out of his depth.
