Will japanese runners win gold medal at Beijing Olympic Games?
women’s marathon gold medallists Mizuki Noguchi will not be back to defend her title in Beijing but 2007 world championship bronze medallists Reiko Tosa will spearhead the Japanese squad in this event. another possible bet is Kiyoko Shimahara who placed sixth in that event in last year world. as for their chances of winning the gold medal in this event, aside from 2004 Olympic silver medallist and two-time World championship gold medallist Catherine Ndereba of Kenya, Japanese runners have to contend on their arch-rival Chinese runners, one of them is Zhou Chunxiu. so it will be very difficult for them to win the gold but a bronze medal is very possible.
