Will ISPs be required to offer itemised billing?

0

7.1 No. Only providers of publicly available telephone services will be required to provide itemised bills in certain circumstances (see General Condition 12). However all providers of public electronic communications services will be required to provide accurate bills to consumers (see General Condition 11). The provision of accurate bills will include all types of Internet access packages offered by ISPs, for example unmetered and ‘pay-as-you-go’. 7.2 Oftel does not propose at this stage to require any ISP to gain approval under the Oftel Metering and Billing Direction, www.oftel.gov.uk/publications/eu_directives/2003/meter0703.pdf. Any such proposal would require an amendment to the general conditions and be subject to consultation.
