yes, any use of your smartphone will drain battery even just having a snartphone on will drain battery. The amount of activity and applications you have going will effect the amount and how fast the battery will drain.

Our experience with a new fully-charged Android is that the battery is drained when it is connected to wi-fi and/or cellular network, and when there is continuous streaming video or audio on any app. We recommend having your Android charged to ensure adequate battery life when listening to iheartradio for long period of time. Individual experience will vary based on prior charging patterns and the age of your battery.
