Will Hurricane Igor Hit U.S. East Coast?
Thankfully the dangerous storm has not posed any immediate threat to land, but it is possible that impact with the East Coast of the U.S. could happen. Storm prediction centers have not ruled it out. Thankfully the computer models for the storm have kept Igor away from the Gulf of Mexico which means it will not be a significant threat to U.S. oil and gas interests in the area. Unfortunately, coming quickly on Igor’s heals is Tropical Storm Julia, which is the 10th named storm of this season in the Atlantic. Igor is the Atlantic’s fourth hurricane. Bermuda sees the greatest risk from Igor, but the East Coast may still end up in the massive storm’s path. Hopefully this will not be the case. Thankfully the Atlantic hurricanes this season have all steered away from the U.S. coast. The 2010 Atlantic hurricane season is set to end on November 30, so there will likely be several additional storms before the season is over.
