Will her steak recipe win over Deen men?
Andria Gaskins of Matthews will head to Napa, Calif., next month to see whether her Thai-inspired steak recipe can earn her $15,000. On Saturday in Cary, Gaskins, 39, won a regional contest in the Beringer Vineyards Great Steak Challenge with her Thai Cowboy Steak with Blue Chile Steak Sauce. She beat nine regional finalists from Virginia, South Carolina and North Carolina. Gaskins was among 100 people whose recipes were chosen to compete at 10 regional contests from Seattle to Orlando. She received $1,000 to travel to Cary for Saturday’s competition, for which contestants had to prepare their dishes for a panel of judges.
