HDMI will work without HDCP, *if* your source is not enforcing HDCP. However your PS3 is going to enforce HDCP, at least when it’s used as a BRP… maybe other times too. So for all intents and purposes – well, at least, for *your* intents and purposes – it won’t work. You can work around this by using component cables from the PS3 to the TV. Component supports full HD resolution (yes, all the way to 1080p) and has no HDCP issues. Yes, in theory, HDCP will give a better picture, but in practice the difference is small enough as to be difficult to spot even in side-by-side comparisons – I saw a lot of people at CES this year try, and fail; even when they did think they saw a difference they were wrong about which was which about a third of the time. So don’t fret too much about the “loss of quality.” It will certainly look better than no picture at all, anyway. However like the other poster I would be very surprised to find current sets that don’t support HDCP. I suspect that they are o
