Will having an Equity Scholarship or Bursary affect my Centrelink payments?

0

Commonwealth Scholarships (CS) are not considered as income under the Social Securities Act and will not affect your Centrelink payment. This means your CS income will not be taken into account when applying the Personal Income Test for Youth Allowance, Austudy, ABSTUDY or the primary payment of students receiving a Pensioner Education Supplement. QUT Equity Scholarships, Equity Bursaries and Starter Bursaries are considered income for Centrelink purposes. This means that your scholarship or bursary is not exempt from income testing for Centrelink purposes and you should notify Centrelink of your payment. You will receive written confirmation of your scholarship or bursary from QUT which you can show to Centrelink, around the same time as you receive your payment.
