Will having a CETL guarantee or increase the chances that an institution will be successful in future additional student number (ASN) bids?
No. Having a CETL will not guarantee growth in student funded numbers nor give institutions preferential status in any future ASN competitions. An institution with a CETL might, nevertheless, be expected to mount a strong case for additional numbers if the CETL was in an area relevant area to any future ASN bids. It might also be argued that a CETL that succeeds in its objectives and has a beneficial impact on student learning generally within the institution would enhance that institution’s attractiveness to potential students.
