Will GFS Retrotron pickups fit a 5120?
After more time with my 5120 I’m reasonably confident that the stock pickups are going to need replacing. Now I know some of you have tried the GFS Retrotron pickups: And some of you are going to tell me that I’ll only be satisfied with TV Jones Classics, so don’t waste my time or money. I’ve been scouring the various forums here and I have read first hand testimonials that say exactly that. But here’s the situation; I don’t have $300 for TV Jones, and I do have $80 for GFS. So even if this is an interim step, I’m guessing the Retrotrons are going to sound better than the stock pickups and hold me over until more funds are available. BTW, I’d love to read your opinions on the tonal differences between the stock 5120 pickups and the Retrotrons if you have tried them both. So finally, here is the question: Does anyone know if the GFS Retrotrons will simply drop right in and fit the 5120 without any special adapters or alterations?
