Will Future Lithium Discarded Batteries Pollute Human Water Supplies & Brain Cognition?
Lithium is a neurotoxin in anything over trace amounts and we know that lithium affects the human brain, as some folks are prescribed it for certain psychological disorders. In the future, we will have more electric cars and these cars will most likely have lithium batteries or batteries that use lithium as one of their components. After all these cars are run out or get into accidents, and are scrapped; those batteries will be taken out, and eventually discarded somewhere. This causes a huge problem because we know that often when humans dump their old belongings and put them in landfills that chemicals seep into the groundwater. If the water is polluted with large traces of lithium this could affect human cognition in a very bad way. Likewise, if the animals we eat, along with the plants and crops that we eat have lithium in the water that they drink or that is used to grow them, it might enter the human food supply chain.
