Will freezing a camelback rupture the bladder?
Most of them are just fine….I’ve had two of mine freeze solid without trouble. One was completely full with no air in it, and the other was a little more than half full. I’ve seen some bladders that have a more rigid plastic-like material, and I’m not sure how they’d hold up, but I imagine they’d still do ok. What I’ve seen with other guy’s packs is that the ones with plastic swivel bite valves and hard plastic hose barbs have developed small leaks after freezing. I fixed one by just putting the end of the hose in almost-boiling water and putting it back on the barb. A friend’s Nalgene bladder froze while full and it popped the filler cap off, but the threads weren’t damaged and it was fine after it thawed out. So don’t worry about it.
