I think in any country this sounds illegal. The father will always share parental responsibility unless a court removes it. Before doing anything seek legal advice through a solicitor and inform the father of your intention to do so. You never know he may be willing to give up his share of the parental responsibility for visiting rights of once a fortnight. Or one weekend in two. If the father cares in any manner of form, you could face prosecution if you try to take him out of the country.and a custody battle ensues, than it is highly likely the injured party would win and you would lose your son.
