assuming it is properly packed ( styrofoam packs are used by Panasonic and similar) and is not subjected to accidents or abuse, there are no problems. It would be advisable to ship electronic appliances-such as radios, calculators, etc that normally use batteries-without them, unless it is desired to have the device immediately actuated (Out of the Box) for example if a shortwave radio was/is a Christmas Gift and the (Delay time) was minimal. Batteries can fail and decay in shipment as should be obvious. finally, packages should be marked-with some sort of labels-FRAGILE or similar notation. Not to be rough handled.
