Will EgyptAir serve all these new destinations, and will it tender to manage specialist services there, such as ground handling, duty free and ground services?
EgyptAir flies to most of the country’s domestic airports, and that includes the newest airports such as Assiut, Taba and Burj Al Arab. At these new airports, EgyptAir handles all the tax free shops and ground services – and that is something that we do at every airport that handles international flights. That is our policy at the moment, but it is also something that we plan to study in the future. Q: What is the timetable for privatisation of EgyptAir? A: My priority is to increase the airline’s revenue and to cut its costs to improve the cash flow position. That is a question that I cannot answer at this point in time. We have appointed the Sabre Group as consultants to carry out studies of EgyptAir’s networks, schedules and pricing policies. We are also trying to improve our marketing. When it comes to privatisation, I cannot comment.
